Nice poster, eh?

Generous John McFetridge, author, blogger and television writer, has invited me to Toronto to present "Noir at the Bar T.O. style."

I'll be up there Tuesday, March 10, quizzing Sean Chercover, author of Big City, Bad Blood and Trigger City, and Howard Shrier, author of Buffalo Jump and High Chicago.

Come join Sean, Howard, John and me at Scotland Yard Pub, 56 The Esplanade, one block east of Yonge Street and one block south of Front Street in one of North America's coolest crime fiction cities. The fun starts at 7:30 pm.

Toronto?
Why has no one ever invited me to Toronto? - Canada is one of my long-standing dreams :)
Do you think it is because I am not quite as ´noir´ as you Peter?

And it really is a great poster!

You guys will have so much fun. Glad to see the NATB concept spreading. Maybe you can build a franchise. ;)

I'm not all that hard-core noir a type of guy, actually. "Noir" just happens to rhyme (approximately) with "bar." I suppose if I ran these events at a coffeehouse, the name "Cozy at the Cafe" might have occurred to me.

I'll have to ask John who designed the poster. I do like its looks, and perhaps I'll steal elements of it or even ask the designer to prepare posters for the Philadelphia Noirs at the Bar.

I have a natural connection to Canada: I'm from Montreal, and my brother lives in Toronto.

Sandra, you think we'll have fun even though this is Toronto?

The concept has already spread to a third city.

The poster is designed by novelist Michel Basilieres.

I've mentioned his Black Bird on here a few times, I think.

He'll probably be at the reading. Looking forward to it.

You'll have fun in spite of the fact that it's Taranna. ;)

Sandra, that's the nicest thing I have ever read or heard you say about Toronto.

You know, I'm still getting used to associating the word, the sound "Toronto" and crime fiction. But our man McFetridge just may be taking care of that.

John, you have mentioned his name. He's a talented guy, I'd say, and I hope you'll remind me to look for a copy of Black Bird at Sleuth of Baker Street.

I hope so, Seana. I've started doing my homework aleady -- a few reading assignments.
